Nyquist Filly Wins Darley Alcibiades ‘Emphatic’-ally

A two-year-old filly by Nyquist won the Darley Alcibiades Stakes at Keeneland on Friday, securing a spot in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies.

Emphatic took the lead from the start and held off a challenge from Summer Starlet in the stretch. The filly finished 1¼ lengths ahead, with Oh She Said Yes finishing third.

The race featured several high-profile entrants, including the Spinaway Stakes winner and multiple TDN Rising Stars. Emphatic remained undefeated in three starts after the victory.

The win marked the first graded stakes victory for Emphatic, who had previously won a maiden special weight race and the Sorority Stakes. Trainer Brendan Walsh said the Breeders’ Cup is next on her schedule.

Emphatic is the 26th graded winner for her sire Nyquist. She was bred in Pennsylvania and purchased for $260,000 at the Keeneland September sale.
