Naas kicks off with the Dubawi Legend Irish EBF Fillies Maiden,

Aidan O’Brien’s Fleetingly Takes Favoritism in Wide-Open Dubawi Legend Irish EBF Fillies Maiden at Naas

The curtain rises on a thrilling afternoon of racing at Naas Racecourse this Sunday, March 24th, 2024, with the 1:25 PM running of the Dubawi Legend Irish EBF Fillies Maiden. Nine three-year-old fillies will battle it out over a distance of one mile (1m) on what is expected to be heavy turf due to recent weather conditions.

Fleetingly (11/10), trained by the legendary Aidan O’Brien, emerges as the favorite, Fleetingly boasts an impressive pedigree, sired by champion racehorse Justify. Her connections have even entered her for prestigious races like the Irish Guineas and Irish Oaks, hinting at their confidence in her abilities.

Harbour Gem, (3/1) trained by Dermot Weld, shouldn’t be discounted. This promising filly showed good form in her last outing at Leopardstown, finishing a close second. The switch up to a mile distance could suit her well.

Wendla (7/2), trained by Ger Lyons, also presents a strong challenge. After a promising debut effort followed by a respectable sixth-place finish, she remains a filly with plenty of potential.

Mo Ghille Mar (11/2), trained by Mrs. J. Harrington, is another contender. Although lightly raced, she displayed grit with a creditable second-place finish in a recent race.

The heavy track conditions add an element of uncertainty to the race. Here are some other fillies to keep an eye on:

  • Kansai (14/1), with a pedigree linked to Derby runner-up Walk In The Park, could be a surprise contender.
  • Billie Frechette (33/1), a half-sister to several winners, might defy the odds with a good run.
