David Egan Scores Dream Start with Amo Racing.

Egan’s tenure as Amo Racing’s retained rider kicked off in storybook fashion with a resounding victory aboard Mr Professor in the prestigious William Hill Lincoln at Doncaster. This win not only marked a personal milestone for Egan, but also fueled hopes for a long-lasting and successful partnership between jockey and owner.

When David made the  decision to leave his previous role as a prominent rider for trainer Roger Varian raised eyebrows amongst some in the racing world. The stability of riding Varian’s string was seen as a secure position. However, the allure of becoming the number one jockey for Kia Joorabchian’s flourishing Amo Racing proved too strong to resist. The chance to pilot top-class horses like King Of Steel, Ornellaia, and Bucanero Fuerte, along with a fleet of promising young colts, was an offer Egan couldn’t refuse.

Born into the world of thoroughbred racing in Kildare, Ireland, David Egan’s life has been steeped in the sport. His father, John Egan, is a jockey, his mother, Sandra Hughes,  his Grandfathers, Uncles , and wider family memebers have a rich history in horse racing . It’s no surprise then, that Egan himself gravitated towards the saddle from a young age. He began riding out for his grandfather at just 13, honing his skills in pony racing and later with flat trainer Willie McCreery.

Having honed his skills abroad during the winter months, Egan wasted no time making his mark in the new year. Just days before the Lincoln, he secured victory in the Curragh’s first juvenile race of the season on Arizona Blaze. Following this up with a triumph in the season’s opening major handicap aboard Mr Professor capped off a dream week for the young jockey. This early success not only solidified Egan’s talent but also bodes well for the future of Amo Racing with their new leading rider in the saddle.

Egan’s association with Amo Racing has ushered in a new era of excitement for both parties. With a string of exceptional horses at his disposal and a proven ability to deliver on the big stage, Egan is poised to become a regular fixture in the winner’s enclosure. This partnership is definitely one to watch as the racing season unfolds.
