Dual Cheltenham Winner Withdrawn from Aintree Grand National due to Qualification

Samcro is out of the  2024 Aintree Grand National due to not meeting the race’s qualification standards due to not having completed one steeplechase in the current season.

Trained by Gordon Elliott and owned by Gigginstown House Stud, Samcro gained recognition for his exceptional performances and versatility throughout his career.

Born on April 11, 2012, Samcro swiftly made an impact in hurdling during the 2017-2018 season, remaining undefeated in his first six starts. His victories in prestigious races such as the Grade 1 Deloitte Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown and the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in 2018 solidified his status as a top novice hurdler.

Transitioning to chasing fences the following season, Samcro continued to impress, clinching victories in races like the Grade 3 Marsh Novices’ Chase at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival.

Despite encountering setbacks and injuries, Samcro has recently being point to pointing but was pulled up at this year Cheltenham Festival.
