Kaitlyn, a 21-year-old amateur jockey from County Tipperary is recovering from a spinal cord injury after a fall on the gallops.

The rider, a student at University College Dublin, suffered the injury in a simple fall while riding. She is now receiving ongoing treatment and faces significant lifestyle changes as she works toward regaining independence.

The incident has placed a financial burden on the rider and her family, who come from a well-known racing background. She has been riding ponies from an early age and had recently celebrated her first winner in July.

A GoFundMe campaign was launched to help with recovery costs. Donations have already surpassed €175,000.

The racing community has shown strong support for the fundraiser, with contributions from trainers, jockeys, and industry figures. A charity auction held this week raised an additional €135,000 for her recovery.

The young jockey had competed in 22 amateur races since her first ride in July 2025, including a second-place finish in the Connacht Hotel Amateur Handicap at the Galway Races.
