Frankel’s Hidden Force Transitions To Sprinter In The Bengough

Hidden Force, a homebred by Frankel owned by Godolphin, made a successful switch to sprinting when winning the G3 John Guest Racing Bengough Stakes at Ascot.

The colt had not raced since finishing third in the Craven Stakes at Newmarket in April. He had undergone wind surgery before returning for the six-furlong contest.

Hidden Force started at 6-1 and was held up early by Billy Loughnane. He produced a strong finish inside the final furlong to win by three-quarters of a length from Prince Of India, with Stratusnine a further length and a quarter back in third.

Loughnane said the horse had travelled easily in previous races over longer distances and showed good speed at home. He noted that Hidden Force has plenty of ability and may return to a longer trip in future.
